Campeones!

It was a big day for a trio of U.S. national teamers in Europe. In additional to their formal invitation to the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, DaMarcus Beasley, Maurice Edu and Oguchi Onyewu have also been crowned league champions! In Scotland, Rangers captured their 52nd league title with a 3-0 victory against Dundee United. Maurice Edu went the distance for the eighth straight game in the victory that pushed Rangers four points clear of rivals Celtic. In addition their first league trophy in four years, Rangers receive an automatic berth into the group stage of next year's Champions League. They will be joined in that stage by Standard de Liege, who after a 25-year drought have now captured the last two Belgian league titles. Gooch helped Standard get the shutout in a 1-0 victory against Anderlecht in the second leg of their playoff series, giving Standard a 2-1 aggregate victory. The win provides a sweet ending to Onyewu's five-year spell at Standard, the hulking center back now looking forward to his next career challenge.
