When the U.S. kicks off against Spain on Wednesday night, it will end a 16-year break of international matches between the nations. That got us wondering what is the longest interval between games for the U.S. and an opponent that they have played at least twice in history. For example, we have only played North Korea once, so we don't count that in the streak. For this trivia time we'll even give you a hint - it's not Spain. Prior to the 1992 meeting in Valladolid, the teams had not faced off since the 1950 World Cup. While 42 years seems a likely candidate for the answer here, it's not even close.
Get out the history books and the calculators, and have at it ...

Found the exact dates:
August 20, 1916 - August 16, 1995, nearly 79 years between Sweden games.
Is it Sweden? We played them August 20, 1916 in Stockholm and didn't play them again that I can tell until February 20, 1994 in Miami. 77 and 1/2 years.

I'm going to guess Paraguay - we faced them in the 1930 World Cup, and did not play them again until 1997.

Sweden. They were the first official international for the US back in 1916... and the second match against Sweden didn't come until 1994.

I thought it was going to be Estonia, but Sweden takes the lead at 78 years between the first and second game against the US. First in 1916 (a 3-2 win) and the rematch coming in 1994 (a 1-3 loss).
How about Estonia? They played once in May 25, 1924 and played the next time on May 7, 1994.

We played them on Aug. 20, 1916 in Stockholm,Sweden in a 3-2 win. then we didnt plat them again until Feb. 20, 1994 in Miami Florida to 3-1 loss. That is 78 years. that is a very log time.
