Local Connections

There are a'plenty on the USA's roster for tonight's game in the nation's capital:

  • Santino Quaranta plays for D.C. United and hails from Baltimore, Md.
  • Kyle Martino (we meant Beckerman!) is from up the BW Parkway in nearby Crofton, Md.
  • Freddy Adu calls Potomac, Md., home when not in Europe and started his career at United
  • Clarence Goodson is from the other side of the Potomac River, born and raised in Alexandria, Va.
  • He went to the University of Maryland in College Park, as did the ussoccer.com Man of the Match against Grenada, midfielder Robbie Rogers
  • Troy Perkins played for the Black-and-Red from 2004-07, winning the MLS Cup in his debut season
  • Kenny Cooper spent part of his youth in Baltimore, where his father coached the Baltimore Blast
(Last and certainly least, one of the MNT bloggers is from Laurel, Md. Hi dad!)
