Through to the Quarterfinals

With the highly chaotic 1-1 draw between Panama and Mexico that saw three players and Mexico coach Javier Aguirre ejected, the U.S. is guaranteed no lower than one of the two-best third place finishes in the group phase, thereby insuring their passage into the quarterfinals. The when and where will only be determined following the final Group B matches, in which the U.S. needs only a draw to ensure first place and a quarterfinal date of July 18 in Philadelphia.

The US are in a very strange position...The only way that Mexico can not advance is by a US loss to Haiti...hmmm...

That Panama-Mexico game was an example of kids not playing well together. Even the Mexico coach and the fans got into the act. There is plenty of blame to go around for everyone. It is good to see that the teams in CONCACAF are competitive with each other, but the grown-ups need to step in and maintain order on the playground before something happens that will never be excused.

On to the quarterfinals, USA!!!!!

Yesterday I remembered exactly why, though I am Mexican I have always been a US Soccer fan! The Mexican team is not only bad at actually playing soccer but their attitude and behavior is just disgusting- not to mention the immaturity of the coach. Just embarrasing!!

On to more positive things... Im so glad we are in quartefinals!! YAY!!USA!!!

If that's how the Mexican team, coach, and fans are going to behave we need to stop allowing them to play friendlies in our country. It's obvious they make more money when they play them here. But they need to have their wrist slapped.

Saw the Mexico-Panama flareup on youTube: The Mexican coach simply kicked the Panamanian player as he worked down the line. Wonder if FIFA or CONCACAF will take (can take) any stronger action.

Another sad note: vuvuzelas at the stadium.

I agree with you Ryan, and not only that, Im getting a little worried about how things are going to be in Azteca on Aug 12th. There may be fights in the stadium and on the field with the players, I say we take extra security just in case...

I wanted to go see Guadeloupe play Sunday here in Phoenix, but it's not worth getting pelted with 'missiles' and beer by these horrible Mexican fans.
