With the sweet smell of victory still in the air, the first part of the journey to South Africa has already begun. Today Bob Bradley announced the 23-player roster for the FIFA Confederations come and some of the team staff are already heading east to get ready for an early flight to Jo'Burg on Monday.
The players have the full day off today, getting one last taste of America before experiencing the unique culture of South Africa and the world-wide focus on the FIFA Confederations Cup.
The flight attendants said staff must now discontinue the use of cell phones ... so we'll update more later.

Confed Cup this month, Gold Cup next month, WCQualifiers in between... Man this summer is gonna be fun.
Now that we've made it through the two qualifiers for this month. It is time to see how the US MNT plays against the big boys. The roster looks as expected considering the injuries. Sure, there are a couple of suspects, but they better take advantage of this opportunity.
Plus, there is a Gold Cup next month to deal with and there will be plenty of playing time for that one. I expect every player on this roster to demand to be on the Gold Cup roster to help defend the title. There are but few chances in a career to be part of something like this.
Let's support the team win or lose. Too many times teams come apart from dissension and second guessing. That is not the way we should go because in the end USA 4 LIFE is what we are.
Good luck and see you in South Africa. USA, USA, USA!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a part of me that almost wishes for the US to be beaten badly at the Confederations Cup. It may be the only way to get rid of Bradley and to save us from much worse fate next year (if we qualify, which I'm not even certain about anymore.)
here is how bob should do the lineup
------------Howard----------------
Spector-Oneywu-Bocanegra-Bornstien
-------Torres------Bradley--------
--Dempsey----------------Donovan--
----------Davies--Alitdore--------
with adu, feilhaber, pearce and wynee all getting some quality sub time. beasley needs to be benched for a few games to realize that he needs to get back on track. this is a young lineup and prolly a little to risqué for bob's taste.
think Bradley may go with the pairing of Altidore and Adu up top that was so successful during the u-20 world cup for the US, with Adu playing as that with drawn forward, he really is the only one on the US team with the creativity that can spray the ball around
A big congrats for the win against Honduras. All of you put a lot of effort and my comments below are not with any intention to point fingers, but with the intention to keep getting better and better.
Now, since this is soccer and everybody is a coach in soccer :o) I would like to say a few things.
1. When we are defending we mark too far from the enemy. We give the forwards from the other teams too much room to look, set the ball and put it inside of the 18 too easily. We have to mark much closer and put more pressure, so they have to play in a rush…
2. We have to slide more often as needed. I was glad to see that the team started doing that at the end of the 2nd half, but if we do that more often; we can save our selves a lot of trouble. ** do not get a red card ** but, make a clean tackle.
3. We have to add some speed in our gives and goes…
4. We are extremely dangerous with high balls, we have great headers. With El Salvador we tied the game, thanks to 2 heads, and with Honduras we got the win thanks to 2 heads inside of the small box. We need to take more advantage of this.
5. Spector: You played very well. Nice combinations with Dempsey. Good job there.
6. Donovan and Altidore great effort attacking and fighting to get the ball.
7. Dempsey: Even though you lost the ball in the center of the field, it is sad that none of the defenders could at least block the shot.
In the first goal against Costa Rica, it took 2 Costa Rican forwards to pass 4 US defenders. Each forward from the red team, got rid of 2 US defenders. We cannot allow that!!
Finally, I want to say that I am extremely proud of you, for not giving up at any time, and keeping the order/structure of your positions.
I am excited about this tournament!
Italy is going down!!
