Two changes from Egypt with Howard coming back in front of the net, while Bocanegra comes back from injury and starts at left back. This is the first time Bocanegra will start on the left since the U.S. took on Ecuador in Tampa Bay on March 25, 2007, a 3-1 win (LD had a hat-trick if you forgot).

Finally! Bocenegra to start at left back with Demerit and Gooch in the middle.
I was hoping Bradley would inject Adu or Torres into the middle instead of two d-mids again. That would give the US attack more possession and bite.
But perhaps with Spain being SO strong the middle, and the wings and the defense and the attack, Bradley decided to be more conservative.
Anyway, GO USA!!!!!!

I love this backline. Spector has been great and I am anxious to see Boca back there at LB with Gooch and DeMerit in the middle. That is a pretty strong backline.
I hope LD and Dempsey brought their running shoes.

OMG USA 1-0 at the half. Had good feelings since I saw the lineup and Bradley, Howard and Bocanegra singing the national anthem. I'm sold on the new chant ZEBRA ZEBRA ZEBRA ZEBRA!!!!
Need someone in the midfield in the second half to hold the ball. Torres would be a nice option. Maybe even Adu. Can't keep giving Spain that much space and possession.

All the things I felt like I've questioned have been answered. Howard big save on Torres to keep us up 1-0, Dempsey is playing defense, Donovan is all over the place, two attacking strikers, good first touches, playing with heart and desire, pride in the shirt. 45 minutes to go but so far win or lose I am so proud of these guys.
@ davidm this group of players is beating spain at the moment 1-0, I don't thing it is time for a sub.
